Tia Marie’s “Why”

In Weight Watchers we are told to remember our “why” which is why we started this program. For me my “why” was because my life was flipped upside down. I needed to create a new and improved me which started with this weight loss journey.

At the end of 2017 I weighed 338 pounds the biggest I had ever weighed in my life. I’ve always been a heavier girl, but I was at this point in my life where I had been married 4 years and got comfortable and was not paying attention to my health. Then, in November 2017, like I said, my world got turned upside down. My husband told me he wanted a divorce. At that point in time, I had a choice to make. I could drown my pain by eating a ton of food (like I usually did), or I could change my life and become a better healthier me.

I choose to be a better me, and the best help ever happened just in time! I work at Davinci Virtual Office Solutions (www.davincivirtual.com), and my work decided to offer to pay for their employees to participate in the Weight Watchers program for those who wanted to become healthier versions of themselves.

We had so many people sign up to try the program that we filled up two lunch classes! My manager, Asia, here at Davinci Virtual is the one that inspired me to sign up because she said that she would do the program with me. Each week at work, we motivate each other to eat better. We share what worked for us that week and what new foods we found to eat that were fewer points. That helped inspire me to keep going.

Our first week on the program we didn’t have access to the app yet and I didn’t track my food at all because I hated trying to figure out how many points things were and manually writing it all down. Then we got the app and it was so easy to use. I was astonished at how many points some of the foods that I regularly ate were. So, I got rid of almost all my high points food I had at home and ate differently when I went out to eat. I used my app to see what foods have the least amount of points. Don’t get me wrong, I still had my treat day, but overall, I ate a lot better and it changed everything for me.

After one round with Weight Watchers, I lost 34 pounds! Then thankfully Davinci Virtual decided to offer to pay for another round of Weight Watchers. I feel like the second round was a lot harder and slower for me with more little losses than big ones. I hated seeing only 0.8 pounds loss for a week! BUT my coworkers and my coach, Linda, kept telling me any loss is still a loss. It made me mad because I wanted that 50-pound charm so bad! But I kept going, eating better and exercising. I started doing Zumba, and I love it! Then finally, after only 21 weeks on the program, I finally hit my 50-pound weight-loss goal!

Thankfully Davinci Virtual has decided to keep offering the program, so my next goal is 100 pounds and I can do it! I feel better, lighter, happier and healthier all thanks to Davinci Virtual, support from my family and coworkers, and especially because of the Weight Watchers program.
